Diagnostics

PolyBatics has demonstrated proof-of-concept in using the beads for diagnostic applications. Given the particulate nature of the beads, lateral flow devices can easily be made from the beads. One advantage of the PolyBatics beads is the ability to both display reporter molecules on the surface of the beads and load the hydrophobic core with other reporters (i.e fluorescent dyes).

In addition to lateral flow kits, we have successfully demonstrated their sensitivity and specificity in FACS (Fluorescence Activated Cell Sorting).

MOG-phaP granules were incubated with serial dilutions of pooled antisera from five MOG or OVA immunized mice. Granules were extensively washed and then incubated with biotinylated anti-mouse IgG, followed by PE-conjugated streptavidin. The data was depicted in a "normalized" fashion (% of Max). One representative experiment, of at least two experiments performed, is depicted.
